REGARDING A FAIR HEARING FOR THE ALT-RIGHT

No.

Not gonna happen, not here and not from me. The alt-filth have legions of their own platforms. If you want to add your venue, page, website or other bullhorn to their network of lies, so be it. You’re entitled to be that empty-minded about “free speech” but I have daughters, a son, and a wife.

So beautiful she brings tears to my eyes on the regular, my sweetheart has the brain of a rocket scientist, the figure of a serving wench, and vividly blue, Aryan eyes that look through the greasy lens of current affairs and see right into the heart of life.

My eldest is a cheerfully untroubled race traitor, just like her old man. My son is a strapping young man with Viking warrior hair who shows up on time, works like a draft horse, keeps a pint of medicinal whiskey in his kitchen, and bothers no one. His sister, 15, got her mother’s eyes and her dad’s storytelling chops (much improved, in her case), and has set her sights on directing films (that’s right, she wants to be one of those Jews who runs Hollywood – wish her luck!).

The alt-filth would prefer to see them dead. I’m not imagining that, or overplaying it for melodramatic effect. My wife and kids are Jewish and every phase of the hard right, from the fratboy “alt-righters” through Vanguard America to the KKK and American Nazi Party, wants them dead.

That cry for extermination is in their literature (albeit sometimes coded); it’s in their organizational DNA; it prompts their calls to action, leeching out of their comment sections like jism from a stew bum’s hat.

“White nationalism” isn’t a movement of ethnic pride. These spun-up, half-educated “soldiers” of “white pride” aren’t banding together to exchange sauerbraten recipes, or learn Old Norse. Their cause is genocide. They are explicitly interested in killing my family. Also lots of other families but just like charity, resistance to foul ideas begins at home.

They’d probably love to see me hung from a well-rooted oak, too. Having been married to both a Chinese woman and a Jew, to the alt-filth I’m a “race traitor” two times over.

I’m not going to waste my space here thinking up new names to call them, or instructing you what to think of them – if you find yourself in any way seduced by the blandishments of these wolves in sheep’s polo shirts, your mind is likely too weak to process logical or ethical arguments.

But I’m sure not planning to give them space here, or anywhere. Nor will I allow that from you. Comments expressing any sympathy whatsoever – including free speech arguments – for the people who believe that my family should be exterminated will find no liberal tolerance from me.

They want my family dead.

They’re not just parading around in their dunce caps anymore. They showed up in Charlottesville chanting for race war. They showed up strapped with weapons, looking for a fight. That’s not free speech. It’s incitement to violence, but beyond that it’s entirely disingenuous to beg a reasonable audience to unreasoning hatred.

It’s a social rule, you see: you can’t simultaneously espouse intolerance and demand tolerance. That’s a toddler tactic. We’re not falling for that nonsense.

Unlike President Trump, my grandfathers and great uncles maintained no cheery illusions about Nazis. They looked them in the eye and killed every one they found, as brutally and efficiently as possible, until the Nazi war machine’s Sauron shadow was banished from the world… banished, that is, until current-day America saw fit to hear it out, just one more time.

Enough. “Alt-right” ideas already had their “fair hearing,” at brutal and horrifying length, in camps like Buchenwald, Auschwitz, and Treblinka. They got another hearing at Nuremburg, and those are transcripts worth reading. Do not imagine that Nazis now have something new to offer, or that their surrogates and proxies are harmless prodigals, exploring the edges of acceptable behavior.

They’ve murdered at least half a dozen American citizens this year in the name of racial hatred and hey, did I mention that they want to kill my family? I like my family quite well. I don’t like Nazis, not one bit. If you think contemporary Nazis are maybe kinda cool, quit piddling around with online apologetics and go buy yourself a swastika-emblazoned armband. I won’t let you lie to me, and there’s no point lying to yourself.

Stop telling yourself – and don’t you dare tell me – that there is some fresh animating notion, personified by a hip little froggy, that somehow needs to be aired out. The earth is not flat, Jesus didn’t ride a dinosaur into battle, and the race obsessionists of the alt-filth aren’t some fun-loving band of edgy, fresh-thinking young conservatives bent on radical liberty.

They want to kill my family.

My family.

That conclusion didn’t emerge from some paranoid fever dream, but from researching original sources. Read up on it yourself if you can stomach that horror show, but if you happen to find something you like, something you want to hold onto and let it set its kitten-sharp hooks into your soft pink mind, then keep it to yourself until some responsible adult talks you down.

Whatever you do, don’t come around here soft-pedaling sophisticated, 21st century racism and expecting me to lick your popsicle because that’s not chocolate, buddy. It’s just the same old shit.

Americans are better than that, which is how we beat the damned Nazis in the first place. Don’t be a Nazi, or a Nazi supporter. Be an American.

Be better.
